Gees it's difficult being a Manly fan in Brisbane. We all know what a bunch of hopeless bloody whingers the Broncos are. This is how Super League started: The bloody bronco whinging mongrels couldn't win every game they played despite having most of the "best" players in Australia. They tried to blame everyone except themselves and especially whinged about the ARL establishment and always had their back up every time one of their players copped a suspension. They had this "everyone's against us" attitude and cried like school girls when things didn't go their way.

We INVITED them into the best competition in Australia, because Brisbane Rugby League wasn't attracting many fans to the games. From the moment the Broncos came into OUR competition, they were expected to win premierships ever year, but they couldn't. So little Johnny Ribot (ex-good bloke manly player, but deep down Queenslander) went and saw some rich guy called Murdoch and asks if he can have a shit load of money to buy their own comp with teams in it that they are likely to beat every week. Murdoch says "Sure, I've got plenty of money, I'll buy Rugby League and turn it into American style football for Asian Pay TV." So he did, and in the process ruined our game. Now the competition is a bad joke.

The real reason the Broncos started Super League - THEY COULDN'T BEAT THE MIGHTY SEA EAGLES. WHO THE HELL NEEDS 'EM.

I am 16 years old and all of my brothers and uncles played football with a few Playing in Sydney football and my uncle coached NSW and Australia (Terry Fearnley), I also would have played but I lacked the use of my Legs. I think that Rugby league is the best game in the World it is just that lately with the two rival compititions the Quality of football has Droped and it is not attracting the same wide range of audiences. There should be a comprimise made between both compititions so that we would get a Higher quality game. Or at the end of A short season The top 4-5 teams from each competion should play each other in semi final like Games, producing only one victor. I also think that Rugby league should be promoted around the world because it is the best game in the world.

Ribot (the traitor) promised state of origin intesity type football week after week. Well i have got FOX and most super league is pretty ordinary, and is Nothing to compared to the Eagles Roosters game. what i'd like to see is a game between this years 97 premiers (manly) and super leagues premiers, we would kick their butt!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm wondering what other Manly supporters think of the proposal to merge our team with the North Sydney Bears? I can't believe that two competitive, successful clubs like Manly & Norths would have to merge purely because of geographical factors. Surely it's more important to fill a competition with dynamic teams than to merge two good teams just because they are located near each other. I can't believe that Manly, the premiers & the best and most consistent team in the last two seasons (and also this year so far) may lose its identity forever. I've written to RL Week voicing my concerns & wonder how other Manly supporters feel about becoming what Ian Heads calls the "Manly Bears". I think supporters need to voice their opinions on these issues before we become a dying breed in this modern football age. At least with the ARL there's a chance they'll listen.

As I can't get to many games during the season, I am looking for someone who is willing to video tape the Manly games televised on Optus Vision. All costs will be paid in advance of course. Optus haven't seen fit to provide their pay TV service in the ACT and won't be doing so for another 12 months.

Congratulations on the most incredible performance on Friday night Manly. That was one sensational showing of determination, skill and outright class. It only reinforces the claim that Manly today is one the most successful and talented football teams ever assembled.

The Manly Daily claims that when we beat Parra this weekend, it will be our 50th win from our last 56 games. That is almost 90% wins- even more successful than the Chicago Bulls! We have also been undefeated at Brookvale for well over 18 months.

There aren't many teams that can give up a 18-0 start, and then thrash a team 34-6 when it makes its run! Only Manly!

I'm a diehard Canterbury supporter but I want to wish Manly best of luck this season - at the moment they're probably playing the best football of any team in either competition. What the hell the Bulldogs are doing in a doomed enterprise like Super League I've no idea and at the moment we're playing accordingly; it sure makes you appreciate the old rivalries we all had before the blowup. Let's hope it can get back that way before long.

Dear sir, I just stumbled upon your page and i was absolutely flabbergasted (for you rex mossop fans)!! I`ve been following manly since 1975 and i can say they have always had a pretty handy team, players such as fulton,eadie, mooney gartner, thompson,randal,gibbs,and many more.I think last years team would rank as one of the finest teams to play the game.steve menzies reminds me so much of Ron coote the great south sydney player,it`s such a shame the game has been divided in such a way, because i think he has the type of game that would make him a legend of the game. anyway, it`s good to see you doing great work and i wish all the teams in the ARL competition all the the very best of luck because it`s always though when you run second to the mighty sea eagles

I think Manly RULES!!!.They are the best team ever!!!.Geoff Toovey is the best player of all time not to mention there other talents such as Steve Menzies,Craig Field,Terry Hill and all the others.I've have been a devoted Manly fan all my life and considering I'm only turning 12 soon I've been one for about 6 to 7 years.MANLY TO WIN 1997!!!.

Thank you so much for this site. For someone who has just come from overseas travelling the world I have witnessed how much attention sports receive. I am glad there is a site on the net concerning rugby league, especially one on Manly because I believe it is the greatest game on earth. But with the comments I have seen on this site we are not the greatest supporters on Earth. If we ARL supporters going to stick together then we should not slag off each other's teams over the net. I am a die-hard Manly fan, when they lost the 95 grand final it hurt me deeply (until next year anyway.) But I think that we should be rugby league supporters first, for the good of the game at least.

I support my home team the Illawarra Steelers but that doesn't mean I'm not going to give credit when credit is due. I supported manly in the 1996 Grand Final when all my friends hassled me about it but I had the last laugh when they won. So I will congratulate them and wish them luck this year but I really want to see my team the Steelers win the big one this year.

Manly are the best team in the ARL competition without a doubt and they are right on track to win again in 1997. With the style of such players as Lyons, Gartner, Kosef, Moore and Hill, and my personal favourite Steve Menzies (Yummy) Manly are sure to take it to the other teams this year.

After Matty Ridge left I was devastated and thought that Manly would be easier to defeat, however with Craig Fields playing my devastation was turned to delight, he is a great asset to my favourite team, and more than fills Ridges shoes. Good luck this year guys, though im sure you wont need it. Manly will kick some ass in 1997!

Being a supporter of a much maligned team such as Manly can be difficult. However, We are winners and the others can just hope to be as good as the Eagles!!!

Sitting in the stand last Friday(Vs Norths), I thought during the disappointing second half, that perhaps we Sea Eagle fans have come to expect too much from our team. After all they were playing tough opposition and they are undefeated and we are the Premiers and the "Super Duds" had to start their own comp because they can't beat us.

I thought, BLOW IT, it's good to be a Manly Fan :-)

It's disappointing to read comments from supporters of other R L Clubs venting their spleens on the Manly Warringah Home Page. Leave it for us. There needs to be some more severe editing - profanity is common and unacceptable. For St George supporters to suggest that Manly weren't the best team last year is a joke. Despite the controversy, Manly were the best team on the day, and all year for that matter. While St George did a great job to get the Grand Final, they were totally outclassed, both on paper and on the field.

While Manly will be a great team in 1997, I am disappointed at the management letting local juniors such as Elsegood go. I don't care how much money he wanted or if he doesn't get on with the coach (for personal reasons - please! this is a professional game), the club should be fostering and keeping local juniors. The best winger in the club, Craig Hancock (another local junior and as safe as a bank) is playing fullback, while local junior Ivan Cleary is playing for Sydney City.

Despite living interstate (in Canberra Raiders territory - they are extremely parochial!), I still get to at least a couple of games each year to see the Sea Eagles play live. Here's to the Eagles going all the way in the ARL Competition in 1997.

I am in love with every player but most of all Geoff Toovey, not because of their looks or anything, but because of their tallent. I think that Craig Field is doing a great job and will really fit in with Manly's style of play. I think it sux that fans of other clubs come onto this page and say stuff like Manly sux! or Up the Broncos! Go find your own pages you losers - you're just jealous because Manly are the champions!!!!! It's gonna be tough for the Mighty Eagles to win back to back ARL titles, especially without Ridge. But I didn't get into watching and loving Manly just for titles - it's the great brand of league they play that got me hooked. So let's keep up the great style of footy guys, and if everything goes right, here's to another title in 1997!!

Nice homepage! I went to the Balmain game yesterday I thought it was very disappointing, lucky they came away with the win.I agree that Nevin should be put back in first grade WE NEED SOMEONE WHO CAN KICK!! but I think he needs to improve his tackling!

Congratulations to the mighty Sea Eagles in 1996, They are truly the best football team in both leagues, better than all you super league basterds, and especially that phenomenal loser outfit known as St George. SUCKED IN, I was there at the game cheering the Eagles on and during that time I learnt that Mark Coyne is the biggest prick going round in football at the moment closely followed by Ricky Stuart.

Mark Coyne you are a complete basterd, because I simply don't like the way you always whinge and try your hardest but never actually getting the result you are aiming for. I'm refering to all the grand final and state of origin losses, you loser.

Lastly to all those misguided saints supporters. Manly were beaten by the ref in 1995, but they copped it on the chin, and they definitely didn't make any official complaint, so stop ya fuckin whingeing and get on with your miserable lives.

congradulations on the win this year.It makes up for the loss last year. I'd like to say that Steve Menzies is the best football player ever, closely followed by Mathew Ridge.
