Hello to Woody,
I like yourself am a fair dinkum manly supporter (like I stated in a previous e-mail). I did mention something concerning mr.fulton and mr.field and the way they played. I stand by those comments 100%
Espically the way fulton played last sunday against the knights (bloody horrible). Thank god he got "the hook". If there are people out there that think im being a little harsh on mr.fulton (woody included) I would like to give an account of what I witnessed many years ago playing junior league in the Manly district.
The sight of mr.fulton (senior) waling on to a field and dragging his son off due to the fact that a refereeing decision went the wrong way. This is something that will always cloud my judgement on scott.
All through the years, I've always had the opinion that Brett Fulton has always been a far better player (but with little or no chance in first grade).
Thank you for this forum, comments on this piece will be appreciated.

JUST RESPONDING TO 'LYONS' GREATEST MANLY TEAM.WELL YES YOU HAVE CAUSED BIT OF A STIR WITH ME.YOU HAVE COME UP WITH A GOOD SIDE BUT THE SELECTION OF JOHNNY GIBBS AT HALFBACK.IF GEOFF TOOVEY ISN'T THE BEST HALF BACK WE HAVE HAD THEN I'LL RUN NAKED DOWN PITTWATER ROAD(IN WINTER TIME).PLUS HOW CAN YOU NOT ADD A COUPLE OF THE MODERN DAY PLAYERS IN THE SIDE.THE MANLY SIDES OF 1995 & '96 I RATE THE BEST DEFENSIVE SIDE I HAVE EVER SEEN.LET ME GO TO THE DRAWING BOARD & I'LL COME UP WITH ONE FOR NEXT WEEK.
SEE YOU ALL AT THE GAME ON SUNDAY....C'MON MANLY........
CHEERS WOODY from the CENTRAL COAST.............
I just wanna have a whinge about the way Manly play the game.
1) Geoff Toovey's constant whingeing! Everytime a penalty goes against them, Toovs is in there letting off wind left right and centre. It's any wonder that Kelvin Jeffes told him to "Go away" during the match against Newcastle. He constantly badgers the referees until they do his bidding.
2) The head patting. It's been talked to death, but it was good to see Marc Glanville dishing a bit back to them when Tezza lost that ball. Tezza's little temper tantrum showed what a close knit bunch you Manly boys are!
3) The leg attacks. That is seriously going to injure someone one day soon. But of course, that's the obvious intent of thugs like Kosef.
There's my whinge for the day. I hate the Roosters too, but I'll be barracking for them to be meeting either Newcastle or North Sydney in the Grand Final!
Cheers and LET'S GO BRONCOS!
Chris
HERE WE COME.....REMEMBER 41-8........
I though it would be a good idea to compile a best Manly team of all time...that should stir up some comment! I have followed manly since 1969 so I have seen a few...I'd like to kick things off;
Eadie
Irvine
Branighan
Fulton (c)
Bousted

FOR ALL YOU FAIR DINKUM MANLY SUPPORTERS, I WISH YOU WOULD GET OFF SCOTT & CRAIG'S BACKS. WE HAVEN'T WON TWO MINOR PREMIERSHIPS IN TWO YEARS CARRYING PLAYERS. YES,SCOTT WASN'T PLAYING WELL AT THE START OF THE YEAR BUT HIS SECOND ROUND PERFORMANCES HAVE BEEN GOOD. ALSO WITH CRAIG,IT'S ONLY HIS FIRST YEAR WITH US,GIVE HIM A BREAK.WE ALL KNOW WHAT CRAIG CAN DO & IT MIGHT JUST BE THAT TEN MINUTES OF HIS MAGIC TO WIN GRAND FINAL DAY. NOT ONLY THEM,YOU MUST BE QUESTIONING BOZO'S COACHING. I DON'T THINK WE HAVE TO GO INTO THAT.NOT TO MANY BETTER IN THE BUSINESS. SO LET'S STOP THE BAGGING & GET BEHIND THE BLOKES & AGAIN I HAVE THAT FEELING WE WILL BE CELEBRATING LONG INTO THE EARLY HOURS OF MONDAY MORNING SEPTEMBER 29th. DON'T FORGET THE LOWER GRADES,LETS GET BEHIND THEM AS WELL.

Howdy,
I was pleased to see that someone has gone to the trouble of creating a Sea Eagles home page.
I am a one eyed Manly fan, as was my grandfather.
I have been attending home games of the Mighty Sea Eagles since 1987, and have been there for some of the more historic games.
I was there for Geoff Toovey's 1st grade debut:
Manly 30
Great Britain 0
I was there for the flogging
Manly 61
St George 0
I felt this was the peak of my supporting career until I was photographed on the hill at Brookvale in the wind driven rain, 11/5/97
Manly 26
Gold Coast 26
and the photo appeared in the Daily Telegraph and the Manly Daily on the next 2 consecutive days.
There ya go..
Down with the knights..
GO THE MIGHTY SEA EAGLES !!!
AS A BELOVED MANLY FAN YOU CAN UNDERSTAND HOW MUCH ENJOYMENT I GOT TODAY FROM WATCHING PARRAMATTA GET THEIR TAILS KICKED AS THEY DESERVE.
THESE PARRAMATTA FANS REALLY AMAZE ME. THEY FINALLY HAVE A TEAM THAT CAN STRING A COUPLE OF LUCKY WINS TOGETHER AND THEY JUMP BACK ON THE BANDWAGON AND SPROUT OFF ABOUT HOW THEY ARE GOING TO WIN THE COMP.AND TO MAKE IT EVEN MORE COMICAL , THEY TRULY BELIEVE THEY CAN BEAT THE MIGHTY PREMIERS , MANLY , IN THE PROCESS.
GET BACK IN YOUR BOX PARRAMATTA AND STOP BOTHERING THE REAL CONTENDERS FOR THE PREMIERSHIP.I NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD EVER SAY IT BUT "GO YOU GRIZZLY BEARS." I CAN'T WAIT TO GET RID OF THESE ANNOYING PARASITE PARRAMATTA FANS FROM THE FOOTY STADIUM AND WATCH SOME TEAMS WITH TALENT CHALLENGE THE MIGHTY SEA-EAGLES(UNSUCCESSFULLY) FOR THE COMPETITION.
TO PUT IT SIMPLY , UNTIL PARRAMATTA CAN MATCH IT WITH THE BIG GUNS ON A REGULAR BASIS YOU PARRA FANS MAY AS WELL KEEP YOUR FEET IN YOUR BIG GAPING GOBS AND CONTINUE TO WATCH A MANLY DYNASTY UNFOLD.
FINALLY I WOULD LIKE TO WISH ALL MANLY PLAYERS AND SUPPORTERS LUCK IN THE UPCOMING FINALS GAMES. I FEEL SURE THAT MANLY CAN MAKE IT BACK TO BACK TITLES.
SEE YOU ALL AT THE STADIUM TO WATCH MANLY WIN THE OPTUS CUP ,AGAIN ,LATER IN THE MONTH.
MARK , THE EAGLE.
PS:- I HOPE THAT NOT MANY OF YOU EELS FANS GOT LOST ON THE WAY TO THE STADIUM TODAY.DON'T BE TOO EMBARRESSED ABOUT IT. IT HAS BEEN A VERY LONG TIME SINCE YOU GUYS HAVE HAD TO TRAVEL THERE AT FINALS TIME. A LITTLE ADVICE THOUGH , DON'T GET USED TO MAKING THE TRIP.GOODNIGHT YOU PARRAMATTA FREAK SHOWS.
I'm just writing in reply to the dick head who was paying out on Steve Menzies.
How's your form!!!!!!! He is an absolute legend and doesn't deserve to be bagged out on. As far as i'm concerned your just jelous!!!!!! And as for your comment that he has the body of a chicken, yeah sure dream on buddy, speaking from a females point of view, he has one of the best bodies in Rugby League!!!!!! He's got an amazing ass and a great upper body!!!! So wake up and smell the coffee and see that Beaver is a legend and not the wally you seem to think he is!!!!!!!!!
MENZIES NO.1 FAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In reply to the Brisbane Manly Fan,
I am the biggest Manly supporter I know...however, I've never met Bryan in person so I don't know if I can claim that! In regard to Scott Fulton, yes he is only in the side because of his father. usually what happens is he is in the first grade squad at the start of every year but after a few weeks he gets dropped because Bozo realises that he simply isn't good enough. This year, however, he has remained in the top grade despite being below first grade standard. In regard to your other point, here is personally what i would have done if i was Frank Stanton or Bob Fulton.
1996
Re-sign Cliff Lyons for one season (which they
did). Do not sign Craig Field
1997
Do not re-sign Cliff Lyons
(look, I love Cliffy as much as everyone else but i think it's time.
Manly are yet to act on this). Do not re-sign Jim Sedaris (Manly did
re-sign him to a multi year deal) That would have left Manly with no
5/8 and no hooker. Toovey can play hooker, leaving Manly with no
halves. There is a pretty good pair of halves up in Newcastle whose
contract runs out at the end of the year... Can you imagine? Andrew
Johns playing for Manly....
Nick
Manly Sea Eagles are the greatest football side around today,no ifs, buts or maybes. A couple of things I'm curious to know how other Manly fans feel about:
1.Is it just me or does it seem that the purchase of Craig Field
was a big waste of money?
2.Scott Fulton is only in the side
because of his father.
I'll be interested to see your comments on
these questions.
Brisbane Manly Fan.
Forget about Manly, and forget about the pathetic sport of rugby league. Tune in to a real man's game like Rugby Union ya pack of prima donna pooftahs
MANLY ARE A BUNCH OF LOSERS AND YOU ARE NOT GOING TO WIN THE PREMIERSHIP YOU PACK OF LOSERS
P.S. HOPA AND HILL ARE THE WORST OF THE LOT
I went to see the Manly Sea Eagles play the Charges on Saturday mainly to catch a glimpse of Terry Hill. His form is what I like to see in a Football player. Unfortunately he was injured, anyone heard what is wrong. None of the newspapers seem to think this was of major importance even though it is leading up to the finals.
Anyway to see the likes of Hill, Lyons, Menzies, Carroll, Toovey and so on was a highlight of my year. Even though they were flogged it was a great game and even greater to see the stars.
Fan of Manly and Terry Hill
To the Parra Fan- youve got to be kidding about the ability of Stephen Menzies. The ex-Harbord junior has played for his state and country, not to mention being top tryscorer in 1996 and thats for a back rower!. Jealousy is a curse.
And on the subject of Parra fans, when are those so-called fans going to grow a brain and behave with a bit of decorum outside the ground after they win. The abuse, swearing when young kids were around and slagging off the Sea Eagles are uncalled for and not in the spirit of the game. If you want to destroy the game, parra fans, just keep acting lik animals like you did after your Friday night win against Manly Warringah.
Anyway, Ive got my tickets for the Major-Semi and hope to see Manly run out at the SFS on 21 September 1997.
Carl of Collaroy.
OK I got a couple of things I wonder if the powers that be at manly have considered.
1) Terry Hill is under utilized. At wests he was often involved in the kicking duties and slotted in at five-eighth. surely out wide some set plays can be established to utilise his kicking skills.
2) Cliff Lyons is a genius, but his time is almost due. Manly needs someone of his brilliance to create and make gaps for the likes of "beaver", someone who can turn a match. I don't know what there contract situation is but I suggest Manly look at Trent Barrett from Illawara or Mathew Rodwell at Western Reds.
3) Finally sense prevaied and Shannon Nevin moved to fullback. He may not be the greatest but he is worth 8 points a game in goal kicking and he sure doesn't let that many in.
4) Scott Fulton, can't play, should not be in the side, pure and simple.
THE NT MANLY FAN.
Hi to those with Maroon and White blood (like myself),
I don't mean to sound odd, but there is something about manly this year in comparison to other years that I just can't put my finger on...I understand all this nonsense about Stupid League and the merger together with King Arko on the Witness program last night (12/8/97) and Manlys' loss of a million a tear....but its something else.
I've been a supporter of Manly Warringah for the 24 years of my life, and a third generation supporter as well, with my father playing presidents cup and reserve grade for Manly....so I'm pretty well credentialed.
I think Manlys' problems lie with two players inparticular...those being messers fulton (Scott) and Field (Craig). In my opinion both players at stages throughout the year, at the most crucial times, seem to upset the applecart somewhat. I know its easy for me to say this standing on the sideline, but next time, just watch both players and what they do (or don't do).
Several good points which are now starting to appear:
Chris N.
To all you weirdo Manly fans out there I have one thing to say, GO PARRA!!!!!!! You guys think you were robbed. You're all a bunch of wet blouses. John Hopoate is the biggest cheat out and there is now way in the world you will ever get rid of him because you all know you can't possibly win without cheating. While I'm all fired up over you people who support Manly, I have another comment to make about another so called "hero" out your way. Stefan Menzies. Yes I did mean to spell it that way. I really hate the guy. What a wally. You people are so blind you even think his got a good body. Yeah for a chicken. Anyway wouldn't want to ruin your day too much except to say you weirdos are over confident and we are going to kill you as we did on that lovely Friday night match at Brookie on that lovely day 28th September.
See Ya
PARRA FAN
It is the day after another emphatic Manly victory over the hapless Western Suburbs Magpies. GO those Sea Eagles. The crowd on the hill were a trifle quiet though. Anyway, all I have to say is goodbye Ridgey and welcome to a local junior star-Shannon Nevin the new Manly fullback for the rest of 97. After a great game against Newcastle, Shannon backed up to play another blinder at Brookie. Hail to the new fullback!! The semi-final race will see what Shannon is made of.
See you at Brookie,
Carl of Collaroy.
It is Sunday 10/8/97 and I would like to say I am sick and tired of the ARL heirachy capitulating when talk of one competition has been raised in the paper this week. We will call it Super League (er, have I had heard of that somewhere else?), we'll give financial control to News Ltd, we'll make the CEO the new incoming Super League CEO, we'll keep all the whinging clubs like Canberra and Brisbane in the competition (yes, the very one's that jumped ship to start) and to make everyone feel really good about it, we'll kill off (they call it a merger) every club that has any history in the competition (like Souths, Saints, Balmain, Parra, Easts, in fact everyone except Manly) and the world will be rosy in 1998. It is not good enough. We have the backing of Optus at $3M per team for 1998 and the ARL head boffins seem to me to be jockeying for high paying board roles as lackeys to the almighty buck. As a die-hard Manly supporter I am not willing to stand by and watch all the teams that we love to hate and play go down the trashcan of Rupert's and Ribot's vision. As a person who has really started to seriously lose interest in whatever they decide to do, this week has made my blood boil. I won't deliberately pick on the ARL, but where is their spine? We are the best competition, Super League is floundering and I don't believe it is anyone's interest to watch the clubs we like to watch disappear. I urge the Manly board to stand by the other teams and let Super League die the death it deserves.
That is enough venom, best wishes to your web-site,
Stuart
Response to a st george fan
Manly aren't as good this year without ken arthurson holding their hands...well, well, well. St George, on the contrary, are playing brilliantly this season. They will not even make the top 7. How dismal is that? Oh but we lost heaps of players during the off-season. Yeah well your team on paper is still a hell of a lot better than the gold coast and they're three points ahead with a game in hand.
Yes, you are so correct: manly always get lucky refereeing decisions. Maybe i should remind you of a few. 1995 Grand Final - Canterbury 17 Manly 4. First try by Steven Price. Last pass from Jim Dymock was hlaf a metre forward. Last try was scored on the 7th tackle. Eddie Ward misses both. 1995 Manly v Sydney City. Sydney City 21, Manly 16. Manly scored a fair try in the dying stages under the posts throguh Steven Menzies yet David Manson called a forward pass which replays indicated was not forward. Manly would have won the game 22-21 and kept their 15 game win streak (which would have become 16) alive. 1991 Brisbane 14 Manly 8. Kerrod Walters drops the ball from 0.5 to 1.0 metres while trying to 'slam dunk' the ball over the line. The famous shot of Peter Jackson in the background putting his head in his hands with disappointment. Yet Graham Annesly awards the try. He gets sentenced to 12 weeks in reserve grade and that one decision was the SOLE reason for the introduction of the in-goal touch judge into Rugby League. 1990 Newcastle 14 Manly 13 Carlaw Park, Auckland. Ashley Gordon scores in the corner with only a few minutes remaining. Replays show the last pass was clearly forward. Oh, and how could i forget...1993 St George 21 Manly 20. Noel Goldthorpe misses with a field goal attempt which rolls into the in goal...craig hancock picks the ball up, and is tackled in the in goal by jason donnely. replays more than indicate that he was well off-side. the ref missed it and manly restart with a goal line drop out. Noel Goldthorpe kicks a field goal to break a 20-20 deadlock on the next possession. By the way, that was the last time St George have beaten Manly. Yeah, Ken Arthurson pays all the refs to be biased towards manly doesn't he, mr st. george supporter.
Scores since between Manly and St. George have been 28-4, 18-14, 20-8, 6-2, 24-6, oh and how could i forget, 61-0. Might you just be a touch annoyed that you're football team sux? There is no way St George would have ever won the Grand Final. Manly were on top at the time and would have gone on to win. Don't you hate it when people send comments bagging Manly because they are jealous/pissed off/angry/annoyed that their football team just isn't up to our high standard?
